Research
Our research investigates the connections between body, brain and behaviour. The focus is on the mechanisms of perception, emotion, pain and social interaction - as a basis for new approaches in prevention and therapy.
Main research areas
Our research ranges from perception and pain modulation, fear learning and expectation effects to social bonding, stress and trauma. The aim is to understand the underlying mechanisms and to utilise them therapeutically.
Methods & laboratories
We combine modern methods of imaging, brain stimulation and psychophysiology with experimental pain models. This allows us to record the interactions between neuronal, physiological and behavioural processes.
